Jelly Belly in Chile!

A relative works for Jelly Belly back in CA and let me in on some big news: Jelly Bellies are now being sold in Chile! They’re all kinds of delicious, so here’s where you can find your very own taste of home here in Santiago.

Supermarkets (100g Bags and 150g Flip Top Boxes in 20 Assorted Flavors & Sours):

Unimarc – Jelly Belly can be found in all mid to high-end neighborhood locations. It is my understanding that Unimarc has also acquired several small supermarket chains that are located in areas such as Palmira & Rossi (about 199 stores) and we will be expanding into these locations too.
My comment: I had no idea what this Palmira & Rossi business is about, but Google tells me it has to do with supermarkets up north in places like Iquique. So I lied, this isn’t just where to find Jelly Belly in Santiago, it’s actually where to find Jelly Belly in all of Chile.

Jumbo – we are testing Jelly Belly product in three stores with expansion plans into all 25 later this year
My comment: No, I don’t know which Jumbos. Anyone feel like reporting back if you find them?

Santa Isabel will be picking up Jelly Belly after the Jumbo test is complete (Cencosud owns both store banners).

Convenience Stores (30g 10 Assorted Flavors & 100g Bags)

OK Markets – Jelly Belly can be found in all 32 locations
My comment: This has been confirmed by a friend who saw them last week at the OK Market in Escuela Militar metro.

Terpel – All 62 locations carry Jelly Belly

Entertainment

Blockbuster – 59 locations in total – 30 of their locations are selling 30g boxes & 100g bags; 29 locations are selling 30g boxes

Cinehoyts – 8 locations – selling 150g boxes

I saw them at the Jumbo at Alto Las Condes last week, on the same aisle as "health food" stuff.

    Hi Emily,
I've been reading your blog for a while now and I figured it was time I commented. I studied abroad (with the EAP program too!) in Chile and I like how you give insights to Chile that I miss oh-so-much :( I hope to return one day, but for now I'll just live Chile through your eyes. Thanks!

    Hi Emily,

Thanks for this important report. I love jelly beans and have wondered what to expect when heading south. :) I actually prefer good old-fashioned jelly beans over the Jelly Belly variety. Do you see regular jelly beans much? Do they call them "gomitas" in Chile?

    Chad

I'm a big weirdo who doesn't like Jelly Bellys and wish they would have just stayed behind in California/States.

hahaha this actually read like a CNN news report. awesome. my favs are the white and blue ones that are technically i think for jewish holidays but i just tell myself they're for the greek flag.

I'm so excited for this. Thank you so much. And Margaret, that's weird they were in the "health food" stuff!! Anything BUT healthy.

  7. Emily says:

Health food they are not! Silly Jumbo :)

Grace, thanks for the comment, and I'm happy to help keep you connected to Chile.

Chad, I haven't noticed generic jelly beans, although I have to admit I haven't looked. You may just have to settle for Jelly Belly brand.

Andrea, don't worry, I promise not to force you to buy them, so I think you'll be ok even with them having invaded Chile – and yes, you're weird :)

KM, I know, I just copied and pasted what she sent me. Which blue do you mean? Blueberry is so yummy, even though I don't really like actual blueberries.

    Abby, you're very welcome!

I'd just like to report back that OK Market by Metro El Golf does indeed have Jelly Belly's. It's almost 1.500 for a small bag (so not cheap) but oh so delicious! Thanks again, Emily.

  9. Andi says:

Haha, you know I've probably got the biggest sweet tooth in the world, but I HATE jelly beans. So weird! Maybe it's the texture?

  10. Eileen says:

has anyone seen necco wafers? Just kidding, I know they'll never come here. Jelly belly's are yummy but if I eat them once a year, it seems like alot, so I probably won't pick any up. I do love the gringo food tips though!
