A weekend in Iquique
We’ve escaped Santiago this weekend to head to Iquique, a beach-side city in northern Chile. Why, you ask? Well because Tuesday is a little thing called our second wedding anniversary, and we like to celebrate with travel (although let’s be honest, I wouldn’t say no to jewelry either).
I suggested flying south to Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas, but Rodolfo wanted sun and voted for the north. Assuming we get good weather – and the forecast says we should – we will be logging some hours on the beach. After spending 3 weeks of our summer in England where it was the middle of winter, our tans could use some topping up.
I’m not sure what else we’ll do, although I’m armed with my usual nerdy paperwork of Google maps on which I’ve marked our hotel as well as sights we might want to see. Yes, restaurants are included as “sights.” Of course. But really, if all we want to do is sit on the sand and wander along the ocean, that’ll be just fine. With both Rodolfo and me having such busy schedules, taking a bit of time to just enjoy summer is celebration enough.

Oh wow!! Congrats you two =) Wishing you a happy day and many, many more!
Thank you!
Congrats on the anniversary! Iquique looks like a beautiful place to celebrate!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun, and the beach was great.
Congratulations! I like Iquique, there’s not a lot to do which means you can relax a bit – unless you want to shop!
I was actually surprised by how much there was to do, I think because I’d thought there was literally a half-day’s worth of activities. Not that it’s got a million sights, but my expectations were low enough that I was impressed.
Happy anniversary to you both. May
your marriage be blessed with love,
joy and companionship and last you a lifetime.
What a beautiful comment, Carine, thank you so much!
Happy Anniversary! That’s so exciting, two years
Have a lovely time!
Thank you! It’s gone really fast – you guys will be there before you know it.
This place looks fantastic! Can’t wait to read all about it! Happy second anniversary–you’re no longer newlyweds! =)
Thanks! And that’s funny, I hadn’t realized we’re officially out of the newlywed years.
