I brought you chocolates

It hasn’t slipped my notice that I’ve been a bit quiet lately. In fact, there’s a steady beat in the back of my head encouraging me to photograph, edit, write, (I could say edit again and pretend I edit my posts, but I don’t want to lie), post. The issue is that none of the other forces in my life seem to be aware of this online space.

Leaving my job of 3.5 years involved going away lunches and happy hours as well as less entertaining commitments like sorting out my health insurance and getting a non-company cell phone plan. Thanks to the latter, I have ditched the oft-frozen BlackBerry for a gleaming new Android. This means, most importantly, that there now exists an Emily in Chile Instagram account, and it is from there that I bring you chocolates.

These lovelies come from a food festival we went to last weekend. More good-but-not-blogging happenings. Plus learning a completely new job takes a mental toll, and as if that weren’t enough, today I had class and a test for my finance degree. Do they make external hard drives for humans yet? I need somewhere to keep all this knowledge nicely stored in perfectly-labeled folders.

Let me illustrate my current state of affairs: last night, I smiled with borderline manical glee. Why? Well, because in printing out my test study guide, I got to use all of my new toys: printer, stapler, mouse AND mouse pad. This is what passes for a good time in my world right now. And I say that with no sense of cynicism – I really am enjoying myself.

So, until I can tear myself away from office supplies (really though, it also scans and copies and prints double sided), please enjoy virtual chocolates. I would apologize for flaunting them except if you live in the US, you can get salted caramel chocolates anywhere these days, and the two in the middle are the first ones I’ve ever seen in Chile, and Rodolfo has strict instructions not to eat them.

Chilean residents, you should probably go buy your own. The website isn’t up yet, but hopefully it will be soon as I have no other idea where to buy these and will be needing a replacement as soon as the last one makes its way into my mouth.
