Snapshots from Cuba
Cuba was…hard to sum up in a word. Beautiful. Relaxed. Fascinating. Hot. We had an amazing trip, and I’m excited to relive our experiences by sharing them here.
To kick things off though, since I do have a little thing called work which is requesting my attention before I dive into 1,000+ photos, I just wanted to share a few pictures. These are stereotypical Cuba, but at the same time, they’re also real scenes from the days we spent exploring the country. Stereotypes do have a base in truth, after all.
Soon, words to go with even more pictures. For now, I’m humming salsa while I work.

Ahh… I LOVE Cuba. It’s one of my favorite destinations – specially because of the people. Oh, and the beaches! I can’t wait to see and read more about it
We ended up seeing two beaches despite not making it a beach focused holiday, and they were both great. I am sure we’ll be back to explore more of the country.
OMG yay!!!!!! I’ve been dying to see even just 1 pic. LOVE the mojito shot. Can’t wait to hear/see more. Safe travels to BA babe.
Thanks! Those mojitos are from La Bodeguita del Medio, which we really enjoyed despite the touristy-ness of it.
Have always wanted to get to Cuba – your photos are fantastic and everything I imagined Cuba to be. Can’t wait to see more!
I was honestly a little worried that Cuba might not live up to my many years of dreaming, but it ended up being even better. Go!
Beautiful pics!! Can’t wait to hear/see more and so glad you loved it =)
It was wonderful, you guys will have to get there sooner or later.
Did u boring some music back? I love son cubano!!! Those mojitos look GOOD!!
Yes, we did! We made friends with the band at La Bodeguita del Medio and bought their CD.
I am so happy to hear you had a great time. It is such a wonderful country to discover. Great memories come back by looking at your pictures of the Malecon, the 1950-60 cars and the streets. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip, Emily.
It’s definitely one of those places that has a distinct look to it – those cars could hardly be anywhere but Cuba!
great pictures emily! Love the one of the Havana Club
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with that one, and we certainly drank our fair share of the stuff.
We had a hard time putting our experience into words. Glad to hear you enjoyed it (from the amount of pictures you took!)!
I think there’s just such a mystique surrounding Cuba that it’s hard to tackle such a big topic without sounding superficial or cliche. Hopefully I’ll be able to break it down a little in my next posts – at least I have plenty of pictures if words fail me!
Beautiful! I can’t wait to see more
Very soon! I am beginning to regret taking so. many. pictures.
Right now I am pissed at the US government for standing in between me and those mojitos.
I think that is a very rational reason to be angry with the government. They were good!
I am DYING to go to Cuba, maybe this winter… but your shots are so beautiful and you are right sometimes there is a reason for stereotypes.
Thank you! You should definitely try to get there soon, it’s such a great place.
“Stereotypes do have a base in truth, after all.” – This is so true.
I’m really looking forward to reading more of your Cuba posts. I look forward to getting inspired if I do decide to go there in December.
You should! Might as well take advantage while you’re so close, right?
You have a gift for capturing a place! I’m suddenly thirsty for a mojito!
Thank you so much, Alex! Hope you get yourself a mojito soon.
