I lived in Chile for a while and just returned for a month. I had forgotten about the constant, penetrating stares. They are very ‘indescreta’. Kids stared, parents stared, everyone stared. Giant eyes everywhere. Some people actually jumped out of their skins when they turned around and saw me and toddlers were almost trance-like and scared of me too. Public transport was quite exhausting to say the least.
